Our Story
Our story, like many others in the dating app era, began with a text:
“You’re not one of those Lovett boys, are you?”
The world can feel like a very small place sometimes. Leigh and Matt met in Denver in the fall of 2022, but their lives shared connections long before then. Their childhood homes were a stone’s throw from each other and they went to the same high school. Matt took after-school shuttle with Leigh’s brother and Leigh rode horses with Matt’s sister. Their lives could hardly have come closer without intersecting.
Strangely enough, it took both of them moving halfway across the country for their paths to finally cross. Matt moved to Denver in 2018, thrilled to finally be answering the call of the mountains. Leigh moved shortly after in 2020, fleeing the Covid lockdowns of New York City and interested in trying out somewhere new.
Their first date was at a sports bar (which turned out to be an Astros bar… during the World Series) and then to a comedy club, where Matt laughed at the comedians and Leigh laughed at Matt. In the three years since, not much has changed. They have run the New York City Marathon (and the SLC Half), traveled around the country and world, and moved to a new city together. They could not be more excited to begin their next chapter!
Meet the Couple
-
When Matt was a toddler, one of his favorite things to say was:
“I do it myself!”
Whether it’s forging his own career path, rebuilding broken down old cars, or building a camper van from scratch, he still embodies that spirit.
When he’s not actively working on a project, he’s usually out doing his best to keep up with Leigh on the bike or teaching her how to ski!

Leigh was born smiling and hasn’t stopped since. She has always been passionate in everything she does- her loyalty, her kindness, and last but certainly not least, her competitiveness.
There’s very little that Leigh can’t turn into a competition- and then win. As a kid, it was cannonball contests and races in the pool. As she got older, that edge turned into leading the Boston University lightweight rowing team for all four years, and these days it manifests as being the first one up a long hill on her bike or placing more puzzle pieces than anyone else.
Leigh is the fiery, driven yang to Matt’s relaxed, reserved yin.
